Idiom 52 – The real McCoy

Our new CFO is the real McCoy (der wahre Jakob) – he has decades of experience working for some of the  biggest multinationals in the world.

There are many examples of the phrase „the real McKay“ in use in Scotland beginning in the second half of the 19th century. Somewhere in its travels across the Atlantic to America, the phrase changed to the form we know today: „the real McCoy“
