Idiom 58 – Make ends meet

I have just finished university and am working at my first job. It’s really great, I’m learning a lot – but if I’m honest, the most exciting thing is a regular pay check. After so many years of never having enough money, it’s a good feeling not having to struggle to make ends meet (über die Runden kommen).

This idiom is a short way of expressing the idea of having enough money to make the end of one month meet the beginning of the next financially speaking.
